Another indoor project that might capture your fancy is remodeling the bathrooms. If you do, there’s a good chance you’ll be using tile on the floor or in the shower – or both. In that case, you will need a tile, or wet, saw. You can cut tile with hand tools, but you’ll save a lot of time and potential aggravation if you put your faith in a power tool. After all, tile saws are designed specifically to cut tile. They can cost $1,000 or more, so unless you’ll be using the saw for several projects or loaning it to your friends and relatives, you might want to look at the possibility of renting one.

If you store all your power tools in the garage, you’ll want to make sure you keep the area reasonably clean and free of dust and dirt. Central vacuum systems are useful for this job, but most of them are bulky and cost-prohibitive. You can, however, purchase a reasonably inexpensive system that doesn’t take up a whole lot of space; in addition to keeping your garage clean, you can also use it on your car, truck or boat.

Power tools can save you time and money and make your life a whole lot easier. But they also can be dangerous. Remodeling shows are a staple of the design and construction industry for good reason. They make it easy to see all of the new developments in the business and help contractors choose which ones are worth promoting or installing. One of these trade shows – the aptly named Remodeling Show in Chicago – is going to be taking place in October of this year. Here’s a quick look at what’s going to be happening.

The show has exhibits running October 17th and 18th, and presentations taking place from October 16th through 18th. It’s taking place at Chicago’s Lakeside Center at McCormick Place. McCormick Place is a popular trade show and convention venue.

One of the highlights is the Business Skills Boot Camp program, which will be held in the conference center. This educational program promises to help businesses that are doing well do even better. It also promises to help those that maybe aren’t doing quite as well reverse their decline and get back on solid footing.

In the exhibit hall, attendees will see exhibitors like Anderson Window, Ford Commercial Truck, Liners Direct, and a large selection of smaller companies. This is a great time to see the latest and greatest products and services for the remodeling industry.

Whether you’ve just bought a new home or are looking to upgrade to a more modern style of living, the kitchen is a common focal point of home renovations. Many real estate agents will tell you that the kitchen is what sells homes, and it makes sense why: Kitchens can vary widely in layout, style and modernity, and even those who only occasionally go to work in that room like to know that it’s outfitted according to their personal preferences.

There are many features, appliances and other details to consider when creating a personalized cooking space. Often, small kitchen designs are guilty of overcrowding, cramming as many items into a room as possible. But this overcrowding draws attention to itself and makes the room feel smaller. Instead, we’ve listed options that allow you to better merge design and utility so that you and your guests forget about tight walls and can enjoy the meal and the company without distraction.

Dictate and designate space with cabinets or open shelving.

While hanging pots and pans behind cupboard doors and above the range might allow you to fit more things inside the kitchen, this can hurt the aesthetic appeal of a kitchen. When cookware and dishes fill every possible space, the room feels clustered. Consider the use of cabinetry or shelving to generate designated space.

With tall ceilings, build upwards with your cabinets. But leave space between the cabinets and the ceiling to give off the impression that the cabinets are pieces of furniture rather than walls.

Another option for your walls is to use open shelving. When left uncluttered, open shelving creates the sensation that the kitchen is bigger than the square footage might suggest.

An exquisite material, marble tiles comes in multitude of colors, and varied range of patterns. The most striking feature is the presence of veining. This brings out the uniqueness in each style. But with love comes care…and it’s the same with marbles. Marble, a derivative of limestone, is an extreme absorbent. This is because of the main ingredient, Calcium Carbonate. It reacts with any kind of acid resulting in pits and scars. Marble, having a chemically unbalanced mixture, is fragile and hence cannot withstand a rather harsh cleaning process. Before the shine of the marble deteriorates, here are a few tips to get back the original appearance:

1. Cleaning Regularly

Marble is extremely porous. Hence it permits dirt and stain mark ti set in easily. A cleaning schedule should be made based on regular basis. Marble flooring, as said before, is very susceptible to dirt and sand particles which can lead to scratches or scars. Regularly cleansing with lukewarm water, a soft cloth, and occasionally wiping with mild, non-abrasive detergents.

Minor scratches can be restored using a polishing compound.
